MUA launches new academic programmes

The Management University of Africa (MUA) on Monday, March 31st 2014, Launched new academic programmes namely

The launch held at THE BOMA Hotel, South C, at a cocktail party, Monday evening was presided over by the Chairman to the University Governing Council, Eng. Michael Kamau, Cabinet Secretary, Transport and Infrastructure. Other distinguished guests who attended the event were Vimal Shah, Dr. Julius Kipngetich, Linus Gitahi, PLO Lumumba and the institutions' Vice Chancellor, Dr. Nicholas Letting.

The launch comes after the university received approval from Commission for University Education (CUE) to offer these new academic programmes. The approval came after a thorough assessment by CUE on the ability of the university to offer the programmes. The teaching faculty, curriculum and facilities passed the CUE test of quality. The evening was filled with congratulatory speeches with every speaker present echoing the university's progress and challenging the university to expand its wings to other major cities.

The Masters of Management and Leadership programme is designed to equip the student with valuable skills in management, leadership, group dynamics and decision making. It focuses on the industry practitioners' practical interactions with businesses and their peers. In order to mold leaders for the African continent and beyond, the course will include academic visits to leading African universities including those in Egypt, South Africa and Ghana.

The MBA programme is designed to provide an opportunity for learners to combine both knowledge and action aimed at improving organizational performance through excellent business practices. It will be offered in an environment that develops excellent business management practices for transformational leadership and will offer options such as Banking and Finance, Strategic Management, Human Capital Development, Marketing and Logistics and Supply Chain.

The Bachelor of Commerce program will offer Specialization in Entrepreneurship, Human Resource, Marketing, Accounting, Finance and Banking and Insurance and Risk Management. The undergraduate programs will take 4 academic years, of up to 3 trimesters each year while the Masters programs will take a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 4 years, of up to 2 semesters a year each. The mode of study for all programmes will be full time, part time (5.30 to 8. 30 pm), and weekend (Saturdays and Sundays)
