MUA awarded Charter
The dream of every University is to get a Charter. MUA was awarded its Charter by His Excellency, Dr William Samoei Ruto, the President of the Republic of Kenya at State House, Nairobi on this May 2, 2024, at 1.45 pm. This award is a huge achievement and milestone in the history of our university and particularly to all the University’s stakeholders especially the students, the sponsor, governance, and the staff.
The charter has brought to the university a new lease of life characterized with authority, independence, autonomy, responsibility, and accountability. MUA was granted its Letter of Interim Authority (LIA) by the Commission for University Education (CUE) on September 2nd, 2011. The Management University of Africa (MUA) was started to create a pathway to pursue degree qualifications management and leadership related courses.

MUA prides itself as a not-for profit premier and leading university with a niche in the areas of Leadership, Management, Governance, and Entrepreneurship. Bolstered by its vision, “a premier university providing management and transformative solutions world- wide”, the University has grown remarkably over the years. It has increased its student enrolment several times; built its main campus at Kisaju in Kajiado County; increased its faculty with several additional Doctors and Professors; and increased its number of programmes several folds.

As a chartered University, MUA plans to sustain the high quality standards that have enabled it attain the charter status. The university is already undergoing ISO certification process to ensure it maintains consistency in providing quality services to its stakeholders.
Sponsored by the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM), MUA was established in September 2011 when it got its Letter of Interim Authority (LIA) from the Commission for Higher Education granting it mandate to operate as a University.
The establishment of MUA followed the decision of the sponsor to transform the KIM School of Management into a University. Conceived with the working person in mind, this decision was an appreciation of the working executive’s keen desire to address known and existing problems in the workplace.
The Institute observed that for such problems to be dealt with effectively there was need for leaders who were espoused excellence in business leadership thus leading to positive change.
Internationalization
The University has an aggressive internationalization strategy which has led to establishment of strong partnerships with universities and other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) worldwide especially in the USA, Japan, India, Europe and several countries in Africa where we have students from several nationalities.
Partnerships
The Management University of Africa partnerships present immense opportunities to our students and staff in the areas of research, conferences, learning, innovations, exchange programmes and tours for which students have in the past for example visited Japan, USA, Ghana, South Africa, Uganda and other countries on exchange programmes, research and conference missions.
Conferences
The University has also held over ten international conferences and similar number of graduation ceremonies which have released several graduates to different countries and diverse economies world-wide.
With our new charter status, we promise our learners excellent service delivery and wish to welcome all learners from across the divide to join us. Students study are supported by excellent ICT facilities, systems and internet connectivity.
The University’s programmes are offered in six schools comprised of School of Management and Leadership, School of Arts, Humanities, Development Studies and Social Sciences, School of Education, School of Professional Education and International languages, School of Science and Technology and School of Law.

Modes of Study
Physical in-person face-to-face interactive learning, Online and Distance e-Learning (ODeL), Virtual mode of study and a hybrid of the three.
Our university has excellent facilities that ensure our students get the best services during their life-time in the University. The Main Campus is located in a serene environment in Kisaju, Kajiado County on an expansive 100-acre piece of land which presents immense room for student academic and extra-curricular activities.
The town Campus is situated in Nairobi County and provides options for students who work and live within the city and its environs and would prefer in-person face-to-face learning and interactions in addition to Virtual and Online and Distance e-Learning methods.
At these two campuses, our learners enjoy excellent facilities including secured and gated compound with CCTV cameras, state-of-the-art library, large lecture halls, ICT laboratories, free internet and Wi-Fi connectivity, auditoriums, student hostels, studios, health clinic, catering, sports, leisure walks, chill-zones and others.
All the facilities in our campuses are disability-compliant with access provisions for people living with disability (PWDs). We are a learner-centered university with a strong focus on our learners’ interests and therefore involve our learners in the planning and execution of all student-related activities.
