Master of Arts in Development Studies

The MDS program offers knowledge in various thematic fields of Human Rights and International Development; Peace, Security and Conflict Management; Gender and Community development; Children and Youth Development; as well as Public Policy Analysis. The management University of Africa has also intrdoduced two more Options in MDS, which are ;

Project Management Option with the following units – Project Planning and Management 3, Project Monitoring and Evaluation 3, Project Appraisal and Analysis 3, Project Risk Management 3, Project Leadership 3

Economic Development Option with the following Units – Public Policy and Development 3, Global Poverty and Social Policy Development 3, Economics of Development 3, Civil Society and Development 3, Environmental Sustainable Development 3.

Study mode: Evening, Weekend, Online

Intakes: January, May, September, Continuous

Duration: 2-4 years

Assessment modes:

Must have attained a second class honours upper Division and Above, Second Class Honours Lower Division with Two years working experience, acceptable by the University Senate

The applicants to this program must satisfy any of the following minimum admission requirements:

  1. A minimum of an Upper Second Class Honours or its equivalent from a recognized University
  2. or a Lower Second Class Honours with at least (2) years of relevant working experience in Research, Management and Administration in NGOs or the public sector as evidenced by publication of one paper in a peer reviewed journal or patent documents.
  3. Must have attained a second class honors upper Division and Above, Second Class Honours Lower Division with Two years working experience, acceptable by the University Senate

 

Application procedure:

  1. A duly filled application
  2. Undergraduate Degree and Transcripts
  3. KCSE certificate, and any other academic documents such as Diploma and Certificate Programme Certificates and Transcripts
  4. National Identity Card
  5. Two Passport photos
  6. Curriculum Vitae
  7. Upon submission and verification of the above mentioned documents, you will be required to pay an application fee of Ksh 2000 so as to be issued with an admission letter
