Finance, Budgeting and Procurement
The Finance, Budgeting, and Procurement department is committed to delivering customer-focused financial services. We value teamwork within the University and embrace a customer care approach in handling our internal and external clients.
The department supports the University in accomplishing its goals through the planning and allocation of financial and physical resources. We also provide financial reports to the University Governing Council to enhance University decision making, planning, and policy formulation in adherence to the University charter and statutes. Our services are guided by our service charter.
The key department’s functions include:
- Management of the University’s financial resources and management of the investment portfolio.
- Coordination and control of budgets, preparation of financial reports and statements, and coordination of external audits.
- Advising the Chief Accounting Officer on financial matters and liaising with relevant stakeholders such as banks and Kenya Revenue Authority.
- Interpret, implement, and enforce the University procurement policy.
- Provide advice to the University on all matters relating to procurement.
- Coordinate the preparation of annual consolidated procurement plans.
- Prepare, publish and distribute procurement and disposal opportunities (including invitations to tender and expressions of interest).
- Monitor contract management by user departments to ensure implementation of contracts in accordance with the terms and conditions.
- Purchase all goods and services to obtain maximum value for the money expended.
- Expedite deliveries of undelivered orders, services, materials, and equipment.
- Secretariat to the Procurement Committee.
Fee payment
Fee payments may be done via direct bank deposit, transfer or Mpesa paybill.
Fee Payment Deadlines
- Late unit registration shall attract a penalty of Ksh. 500 per day. No student shall be allowed to register three weeks after the start of the semester.
- The deadlines for fee installments are the first installment (60%) due during the unit registration period, the second installment (20%) due on the 5th of the second month and the third installment (20%) due on the 5th of the third month. Failure to meet these deadlines leads to 5% fee penalties on the balances due, withdrawal of library services, non-submission of CATs/WBAs, semester deferment with a 15% administrative cost and no sitting for final exams.
- An early bird discount of 5% on tuition fees shall be given to any student who pays full semester fees within the registration period.
